Under the supervision of German curator Tobias Megerle, a dozen Mahim woodcarvers produced their own take on the traditional skateboard, the “Mumbai skateboard”. Not sure how well it would hold-up to a set of 12 stairs but it definitely looks fresh.

Shot in Helsinki, this short film tells the story of the collaboration between Converse and Finnish textile icon Marimekko. The cinematic portrait celebrates the timeless spirit that both brands are born out of and unveils the story behind the women’s focused Converse x Marimekko Spring 2011 collection. The film’s soundtrack features tracks by Finnish music artists Husky Rescue and Uusi Fantasia.

I’m a fan of both brands. Marimekko Converse, Corimekko Manverse. Via the Finn in Singapore.

RIP – A Remix Manifesto

RiP deals with the absurdities of copyright law. Over here in Germany, GEMA is responsible for the music copyrights. At the moment GEMA is trying to have kindergartens pay for any songs they make copies of and sing. Ridiculous? Most definitely. RiP is a documentary that deals with copyright but more specifically, using intellectual property that builds upon one another’s work.

3. Our future is becoming less free
4. To build free societies you must limit the control of the past
